Under the hood

Four rules the renderer holds to

A QR code is a specification, not a picture. These are the rules most generators quietly break in the name of a nicer thumbnail — and the reason the score at the top of this page is worth reading.

    Quiet zone is 4 modules

    Enforced by the renderer on all four sides. Below that a scanner loses the symbol edge against a patterned background — the same rule the code at the top of this page follows.

    Finder patterns keep 1:1:3:1:1

    Nineteen of the forty-nine decorative eye pairings break that run ratio. Those nineteen are not offered.

    Logos knock modules out

    The plate removes the modules it covers rather than painting over them, and the area is measured against what the error-correction level can recover.

  4. 4

    Vector output is really vector

    Logos and frames are drawn inside the SVG, so the file you download is the code you approved, at any size.
